“BOOM! – Italian Jazz Soundtracks at their Finest (1959-1969)” is the new compilation exploring the unique bond between jazz and cinema in Italy during the so-called “Boom”, the unparalleled season of the Dolce Vita, of social transformation and economic growth the country went through in the aftermath of World War II.

From underground jazz clubs located in the basement of trattorie restaurants to the studios of Cinecittà, “BOOM!” is the first compilation of its kind to trace an insight into a time when directors, from auteur films to comedies and B Movies, adopted jazz as a new and hip language for their works narrating the faces of a changing Italy. A country made of both carefree optimism and alienation, but also modernist architecture, suave fashion and some of the finest design pieces ever conceived.

Featuring rare and previously unreleased music from the likes of Ennio Morricone, Piero Umiliani, Piero Piccioni, Luis Bacalov, Armando Trovajoli, Riz Ortolani, Carlo Rustichelli, Marcello Giombini, Luiz Bonfà, Peppino De Luca, Gianni Ferrio, Bruno Nicolai, Aldo Piga, Ivan Vandor, Carlo Savina, Nino Oliviero, Giorgio Zinzi, Marcello Gigante, and soloists of the caliber of Chet Baker, Gato Barbieri, Gegé Munari, Nora Orlandi, Enrico Rava, Nunzio Rotondo, Gianni Basso, and Oscar Valdambrini.
